Atlas of Rocks, Minerals, and Textures
From the University of North Carolina, this site is divided into 4 categories: minerals, plutonic microtextures, volcanic microtextures, and metamorphic microtextures. Each section contains a color image and a short description of the rock.

Geologic Hazards
This U.S. Geological Survey site contains information and research on common geological hazards: earthquakes, landslides, geomagnetism, and seismic hazards.

Image Gallery for Geology
This site, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, contain "images of geologic phenomena and are used to supplement introductory geology classes." This is a helpful site for visual learners.

Internet Public Library: Geosciences
This Internet Public Library site contains annotated links to resources in the fields of geology and geophysics.

Paleomap Project
"The goal of the PALEOMAP Project is to illustrate the plate tectonic development of the ocean basins and continents, as well as the changing distribution of land and sea during the past 1100 million years." This site contains full-color paleographic maps and 3-D paleographic globes and animations.
