General Periodical Databases EBSCOhost EBSCOhost is a database of popular and scholarly publications, with many articles available in full text. ProQuest ProQuest electronic database contains newspapers, scholarly journals and other periodicals, many in full text. Digital Images ARTstor ARTstor contains thousands of digital images, primarily photographs of artwork found in galleries and museums from around the world. "The ARTstor Library's initial content includes approximately 500,000 images covering art, architecture and archeology." The ARTstor database allows you to zoom in on images, save images for presentations and other features. Some specialized features of ARTstor require a username and password. Practice Tests New! Learning Express This database provides practice tests for Basic Math Skills, the TOEFL test and the GED Exam. It also provides access to many e-books on test preparation and study skills. The first time you use Learning Express, you will need to establish a username and password, which takes about 30 seconds to set up. Specialized Periodical Databases Look for the Newspaper Databases ProQuest Newspapers ProQuest Newspapers database contains 29 full text newspapers from around the country. Washington State Newstand This database contains the full-text of 18 Washington State Newspapers. New York Times Historical Collection This database contains the full text of New York Times articles from 1851 to 2003. The database allows you to search by date or by topic. The Chronicle of Higher Education The Chronicle is a source of news, information, and jobs for college and university faculty members and administrators. Controversial and Research Topics CQ Researcher Each electronic issue of CQ Researcher provides a history, overview, pro/con discussion and bibliography for the topic. Opposing Viewpoints Opposing Viewpoints provides articles, overviews, statistics, and websites on social issues currently in the news. General Reference Resources Facts on File "Facts On File World News Digest presents the full text of Facts On File World News Digest since 1940, plus a live newsfeed from ReutersŪ and thousands of in-depth features, images, charts, and primary documents." The Facts on File search allows you to search for information by topic or date. Oxford English Dictionary The Oxford English Dictionary is the quintessential English language dictionary. "The Oxford English Dictionary is the accepted authority on the evolution of the English language over the last millennium. It is an unsurpassed guide to the meaning, history, and pronunciation of over half a million words, both present and past." CQ Historic Documents CQ Historic Documents contains primary documents such as Presidential speeches, international agreements and Supreme Court decisions. Spanning 1972 to the present, there are approximately 100 documents per calendar year. Oxford Reference Premium The Oxford Reference database contains electronic versions of dictionaries, encyclopedias, subject-specific reference books, timelines and facts published by Oxford University Press. eLibrary eLibrary allows you to simultaneously search more than 2,000 full-text magazines, newspapers, books, and transcripts. Subject-Specific Reference Resources Gale Virtual Reference Library This collection of electronic reference books contains titles in Law, Medicine, Science and Social Science. New! Magill's Medical Guide Magill's Guide "provides general readers with an authoritative reference source that helps bridge the gap between medical encyclopedias for professionals and popular self-help guides." It covers diseases, disorders, treatments, procedures, specialties, anatomy, biology, and issues in an A-Z format. OECD Health Data OECD Health Data is a database of health related statistics, offering the most comprehensive source of comparable statistics on health and health systems across OECD countries. Well Connected Health Reports Well Connected contains information on common diseases and wellness issues. Each report covers one health topic and includes information on treatments, risk factors, causes, diagnostic tests, and preventative measures. Available on-campus only. Books and eBooks Books 24x7 Books 24x7 is an online database of e-books. BCC currently subscribes to the Information Technology Collection. For more information click here. New! NetLibrary NetLibrary is a collection of eBooks. BCC's collection primarily consists of eBooks on health care, health care management, bioethics, and cultural studies. OCLC FirstSearch OCLC First Search is a database of books and articles located in libraries around the world.
